Monthly ECP Happy Hour meeting with early-career professionals (5 years out of school and younger, including students). Registration required (see below). 

Program Description

Please join the Early Career Professionals Committee as we invite notable speakers to explore the important topic of financial wellness as a physical therapist. We will be discussing a range of topics including loan repayment, financial security, post-graduation considerations, planning for the future, and more. Bring your questions as we will have plenty of time for Q&A. We look forward to sharing with you!

Amy Schubert, PT, DPT is the director of admissions for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Schubert received her bachelor of science in Kinesiology-Exercise Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2004, and continued her education at UW-Madison receiving a Master of Physical Therapy degree in 2006. She subsequently graduated in 2010 with a post-professional Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree from the University of New England, which included management sciences as well as legislation and policy studies. She joined the UW-Madison Doctor of Physical Therapy Program in 2018 as the Director of Admissions.  In this role she is responsible for recruitment, counseling interested students, and managing the overall admissions process.  In addition, Schubert co-instructs PT 512: Principles of Professional Practice and Administration, and also serves as advisor for the UW-Madison Pre-PT Club undergraduate student organization. Prior to joining the UW-Madison Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, Schubert worked as a physical therapist for UW Health, primarily in sports rehabilitation, from 2007 to 2018.  Her clinical specialty included treatment of athletes with lower-extremity injuries related to running, including video analysis of running mechanics. She developed post-operative guidelines following surgical release for the treatment of chronic exertional compartment syndrome, which were published in 2011.  Dr. Schubert served as a guest instructor for the DPT program from 2005-2014, and owned and operated her own physical therapy and personal training business from 2013 to 2018.

Emma Crawford works at the University of Wisconsin’s School of Medicine and Public Health as the Manager of Financial Aid and Financial Wellness. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in spring 2016 with a Master’s degree in Counseling, and is currently attending Iowa State studying financial planning. She is working hard to become an Accredited Financial Counselor and a CFP®. She is super passionate about financial wellness and sincerely enjoys working with students. Her ultimate goal is to open up her own practice and specialize in student loan repayment with folks who work in the healthcare industry.
