Program Description

As support for the Paralympic Movement and adaptive sports continues to grow, it is necessary for sports physical therapists to improve their knowledge & skills in working with adaptive athletes. Foundational knowledge in biomechanics and sport-specific principles are essential for developing effective sports rehabilitation and training programs for both able-bodied and adaptive athletes. Force and physiology demands must be considered in injury prevention programs, rehabilitation, and return to play - in addition to those needed to perform activities of daily living. This webinar will review shoulder biomechanics & sport-specific movements of the adaptive athlete in various sports including wheelchair basketball, para swimming, and sitting volleyball. In addition, we will discuss common shoulder injuries and clinical considerations to rehabilitation that are applicable to athletes of all physical abilities and experience levels.
