Program Objectives

1.  Review the journal article findings for the efficacy of CBT combined with standard of care over standard of care only in treating concussions. 
2.  Identify specific cognitive strategies used to address "negative illness perception"
3.  Identify specific behavioral strategies to address "maladaptive illness behavior"
4.  Introduce behaviors to improve sense of control in symptom management (i.e., sleep, headaches)


Dr. Matthew Myrvik is a fellowship trained pediatric psychologist, who is a part of the Sports medicine Team a Children’s Wisconsin. He has special interests in sports medicine/sport psychology focused on concussion management, injury recovery and performance enhancement.
